Guest Rooms are an interesting arrangement of gardens, stairs and rooms -- with views from windows and doors being private and usually including a small garden or an interesting vista. They are not appropriate for young children and infants. Children older than twelve 12 are welcome.
Baths are all en suite, which means that they are a part of the guest room, accessed through the room only, sometimes located a few steps higher than the sleeping area. Baths do not have tubs, but rather walk-in showers. All but two of the rooms have balconies, two have private gardens, and some have multiple balconies and tropical gardens.
Rooms do not have cable TV. We began as an adventure destination, combining our Caribbean coconut plantation with the townhouse in the city. It is sill a belief that travelers do not come to watch television and that guest’s smartphones and iPads and computers can pull as much streaming news and video as desired.
The city is filled with free nightly cultural events usually found three to four short blocks from the hotel. ‘Free’ and ‘Cultural’ are two words which describe the Merida nightlife well.
