Built to mimic a ‘cenote'
After all these years it’s still not clear why the alberca took this form. We had choices but didn’t entertain but one of them. The stones were available and cheap and they came out of the excavation. There was no designer, engineer, or authority.
Like most construction at Casa Mexilio, the pool appeared like a wild and savage vine, growing out of a too much fantasy and a lack of money.
