Casa Mexilio is tall for a 19th C. building of stacked stones and from the tables atop, it’s inspiring. The Colonial belfries (sometimes lighted), the cathedral five blocks distant, Monjas, the convent with its watchtower, the Merida City Hall, and the nearest, the colonial belfry of Santiago, are viewable.
There’s something about being up high, something about a view, that insists we climb up. Do you remember the book and movie, “A Room with a View” ? That was in Florence, and the view was of the Piazza della Signoria and the statue was by Michelangelo !
Here at Casa Mexilio we have a view of a cathedral facade almost as old as ‘David’ - and THE MAYAN COSMOS.
